OUR FOUNDER
Everything starts with an idea!
In summer 2021, Holger Güssefeld— lifelong pacifist, and activist from Hamburg—shared a simple yet powerful idea in a letter to Die Zeit:
“We must change how we live. Doing it alone is difficult. That’s why I suggest creating clubs in which people can learn from each other and help one another to change their lives..“
The letter resonated deeply, inspiring readers across Germany to contact Holger. A radio interview further spread his vision, and by September, he began hosting meetings with an enthusiastic, intergenerational group. These gatherings marked the birth of Change Clubs—a movement empowering people to unite for meaningful change.

With support from Anthropia, Quantum Leap, and a dedicated team, Change Clubs launched publicly in May 2022 with a website and crowdfunding contest.
Though Holger passed away on May 24, 2022, his spirit lives on, inspiring a growing global community committed to making his dream of collective transformation a reality.
CHANGE TEAM
Our everyday work is carried out by the Coordination team. The team accompanies the Change Clubs and provides support to the growing Change Clubs network, manages the website and communication channels.
STEERING COMMITTEE
The Steering Committee shapes the vision and strategy of the Change Clubs movement. They provide leadership in key areas. Through their guidance, they ensure the movement remains focused, impactful, and sustainable.

LEGAL STRUCTURE
Change Clubs gGmbH, a non-profit limited responsibility company, was established under German Law, in Bonn, Germany, in September 2022. The founders are three impact companies and two individuals. The Change Clubs gGmbH provides the legal basis for the operations of the Change Clubs initiative – with Pía Carazo and Oliver Kuschel as our gender-balanced and highly dynamic duo of CEOs.

We must change how we live. Not only in politics and the economy, but also personally. Doing it alone is difficult. That is why I suggest creating Clubs, in which people can learn from each other and help one another to change their lives. There one would get recommendations for delicious vegetarian recipes, fairly traded textile brands, some would share their experiences with carsharing, others about how to grow vegetables on your roof, another would know a great way to reuse rainwater, and so on. The Clubs would work following the Weight Watchers principles: Motivation and exchange of experiences. Working title: Change Clubs.
